Delete your TreeNote Cloud account
This page explains how to permanently delete your TreeNote Cloud
account and all data associated with it. You have two options: delete
directly in the app (fastest), or request deletion by email if you no
longer have the app installed.
Option 1 — Delete in the app (recommended)
Open the TreeNote app on your Android device, then:
- Tap the ⋮ menu in the top-right of the tree screen.
- Tap Settings.
- Scroll to the Sync section.
- Tap Delete account near the bottom.
- Choose whether to also clear the local copy of your notes on this
device, then type DELETE to confirm.
Deletion completes within a few seconds. You'll see a confirmation
message and the app will return to the sign-in screen.
Cancel your subscription first
If you have an active TreeNote Cloud subscription, cancel it
in the Google Play Store before deleting your account. Play
subscriptions are managed by Google independently of your TreeNote
account — deleting the account does not automatically cancel the
subscription, and Play will continue to charge your payment method at
the next renewal unless you cancel first.
To cancel in Play:
- Open the Google Play Store app.
- Tap your profile picture → Payments and subscriptions
→ Subscriptions.
- Tap TreeNote Cloud → Cancel subscription.
The app will refuse to delete your account until the subscription is
cancelled (or expired). This is a safety measure, not a bug — it
protects you from being billed for a service you no longer have access
to.
Option 2 — Request deletion by email
If you no longer have the TreeNote app installed and don't want to
reinstall it just to delete your account, send an email to:
support@treenoteapp.com
from the email address associated with the account, with the subject
line "Delete my TreeNote Cloud account". Please cancel any
active Play subscription for TreeNote Cloud before sending the
request (see the cancellation steps above).
We aim to process email deletion requests within 5 business days. You
will receive a confirmation email once the deletion is complete.
What gets deleted
Deleting your account permanently removes all of the following from
our systems:
- Your email address and authentication record
- The title, body text, and rich-formatting data of every note you
stored in the cloud
- The tree structure (parent-child relationships between notes)
- Task metadata (task/note flag, completion state, due dates)
- Sync metadata (revision numbers, deletion tombstones)
- Your subscription tier record on our side
Backup snapshots containing your data are purged within 30 days.
What is not deleted
- Local notes on your device. When you delete via
the in-app flow, you can choose whether to also erase the local
copy on that device. When you delete by email, we cannot reach your
device — uninstalling the app removes all local data.
- Google Play billing records. Google Play retains
subscription and payment history according to its own retention
policies, which are governed by tax and accounting requirements.
We never see or store payment card details, so there is nothing on
our side to delete.
- RevenueCat customer records. Our subscription
event processor (RevenueCat) retains its event log for audit and
compliance. RevenueCat does not hold the contents of your notes or
your email address — only an opaque account identifier and the
lifecycle events that flowed through it. See the
Privacy Policy for the full subprocessor
breakdown.
